Waterman C/F Fountain Pen, Pencil and Ballpoint Set
I am stretching the boundaries of my own definition of vintage with this rather exotic set which was retailed by Harrods in 1980 - as shown by the papers that accompany the pens and the boxes. Too good not to put on the website though!
This is a Waterman C/F (or CF if you prefer) 3 pen set, comprising fountain pen, ballpoint and mechanical pencil, all in the wonderful gold moire finish. The finish is a rather hypnotic wave pattern. This set is the later version, made in France, as imprinted on the pen and evidenced by the 18k medium nib.
The fountain pen is fairly slender by modern standards, and measures approx 13.5cms when capped. It is a cartridge converter filler, and takes only proprietary cartridges/converters which are no longer made, although modern versions are now available from the US at some cost. The good news is that this pen comes complete with an original working converter!
The pencil operates by twisting the cap, which extends and retracts the lead. There is lead present and the system works.
Similarly, the ballpoint operates by twisting the cap to extend/retract the ballpoint. There is a refill in the pen, but it is untested, you may need a new one!
The set comes in the original velvet box, and outer card board box.
Overall the set is in good used vintage conditions. No major dings but there are some small, had to see, scratches.
