This is a fantastic upgrade on your standard vanishing point fountain pen!
This Pilot Capless or Vanishing Point LS fountain pen has a superb blue guilloche type finish with chrome coloured trim. To my eye it is slightly larger than the standard Capless fountain pen. The “LS” stands for Luxury and Silent - it lives up to expectations!
What makes it special is the very slick nib extend and retract mechanism - so slick that I have added a video, given pictures speak a thousand words! You push down on the button on the top of the pen to extend the nib, as is usual on this design - but watch the ring with the “shark fin” type design restate as you do so! To close a gentle push on the “fin” silently and very smoothly glides the nib back into the retracted position, safe from harm. No potentially annoying clicks as you do so - perfect pen for a person whose job requires many meetings, but likes to fidget! :-)
This pen is equipped with a smooth writing 18k fine nib (marked on the nib). A Pilot metal cartridge protector is fitted so that the pen can use a cartridge, but can be easily removed.
The pen is presented in the original Pilot hard plastic case, as well as the cardboard outer box, and unopened Pilot proprietary cartridge and CON-40 converter for use with bottled ink. The pen is in excellent used condition - note it is difficult to photograph without reflections which may look like marks. Please ask for more photos - I will be happy to oblige - including an mp4 video of the mechanism working.
All in all, a stunning pen, wonderful mechanism, and given the current UK price of over £400 new, is in my view very competitively priced.
