Montblanc 22 fountain pen - vintage piston filler - fine nib
Back in 1959, Montblanc retired the 142/144/146 models and took the innovative step of replacing them with models allocated digit numbers, including amongst other pens the 12/14/22/24/32/34 models.
The 12 and 14 retained the designation “Meisterstuck”, the 22 and 24 were medium range pens, and the 32/34 entry level pens.
There is a lot of information on the internet on these fabulous, and IMHO(!) under rated pens including a very helpful thread on the Fountain Pen Network forum entitled “A Thorough Report On Montblanc 12/14/22/24/32/34 Series”
The pen offered here is the 22, with 2 gold coloured cap rings and a 14k nib. It has “Montblanc No22” inscribed on the cap band.
The pen has a push on cap - which fits very well to the barrel. It is a piston filling pen, and this operates correctly. The gold coloured trim does have some wear/pitting to it, and there are signs of use like micro scratches, but no major dings, nor cracks. The Montblanc logo is present on both cap and barrel finials.
The 14k nib is firm and writes nicely.
