The Cross Townsend fountain pen is a fairly rare pen in lapis lazuli finish. it looks spectacular!
The lapis lazuli model was introduced by Cross (according to the product history section of the Cross website) in 1995. I understand it was a timelines production run, so a limited number of pens were made, although they are not to my knowledge numbered.
The pen is a stunning dark blue, with flakes of 22k gold all coated in lacquer. The blue comes from the use of actual lapis lazuli in the manufacture of the pen overlayed on a brass cap and barrel. This does make the pen fairly weighty in hand, but not unpleasantly so. The trim is 23k rolled gold.
Sadly, the pen does have signs of use, including micro-scratches, and some pitting around the gold ring just above the nib. I believe the competitive price reflects this. Please do not hesitate to ask for more information or pictures - quite a difficult pen to photograph due to reflections!
The pen is a cartridge converter filler, and will be supplied with 2 Cross proprietary cartridges. The nib is a wonderful white and yellow 18 k gold medium, which writes smoothly.
All in all, a fabulous pen.
